Laughing Liberally @ Town Hall Again!

Laughing Liberally at Town Hall

On Saturday, February 4, 1,300 liberals and laughers packed Town Hall on Times Square. The audience roared and political spirits soared as seven performers entertained and electrified the crowd, and launched a new era of political comedy.

Jim David (Comedy Central), Julie Goldman (VH1), Rick Overton (Dennis Miller Live) and Dean Obeidallah (Air America) were joined by newcomers Baratunde Thurston, Katie Halper and Jamie Jackson in an evening of laughter from the left. This was no simple night of Bush-bashing (the Bush-bashing was actually quite sophisticated) -- rather a showcase of smart, savvy and satiric insights into America. From the suspicious looks Dean gets for his last name, to Julie's mom kvetching about her daughter's gay marriage, the comics left the audience with a side-splitting, paradigm-shattering experience.

EL Partido (Senor Baby)

Here is the El Partido postcard. Isn't it great. The baby was found outside a bowling alley by the members, right after a practice with Jean. We went to the bowling alley for a little team bonding and we ended up coming out with our freaking postcard and mascot.

On a personal note: I bowled a 127 after a 2-5 year hiatus. One must note that I take the sport very seriously, with the hopes of scoring a 300. I did get a strike on the final frame.

A new semester brings new students to the Academy. We would like to welcome our new cadet to The Academy - Elana Fishbein. Elana's academic records are among the top in the country, not to mention she is transferring from Vassar College.
